Border Union Championship Show 2015 Critique

Thanks to my very efficient stewards, and exhibitors for a quality entry.

PD 4
1st Finnett & Heathcote’s HYNDSIGHT EASY FEELIN: well grown 10 month old, shapely, well constructed front and rear with correct bend of stifle. Harsh coat. Sound mover for age. BP.
2nd Freeman’s STRANWITH ROAG: similar in outline to (1) with nice head and expression, deep chest. Good tuck up. Would like more bend of stifle. Not as sound on the move.
3rd Finnett & Heathcote’s HYNDSIGHT DECKARD

JD – no entries

ND 1
1st Foy’s DORRATOR FRANKLIN: stood alone but worthy of his place. Nice small ears, strong neck and general outline good with deep chest and correct bone. Moved soundly.

PGD 3
1st Cunningham’s TEVIOTDALE BANNER BLUE: tall, well made dog. Good front and rear with strong neck and good topline. Would like a darker eye. Free and easy mover.
2nd MacIntyre’s ALMONDBANK LEAD ON McDUFF: smaller but well balanced. Pleasing head with dark eye. Correct front and topline, adequate bend of stifle. Bit unsettled on the move.
3rd McKinnon’s MOREACH OSPREY OF FINGON

3rd Milne & Andrews’ ISLAYS IARLA TO LEOCH (Imp Deu)

OD 2 (1)
1st MacBean’s KILLOETER RUAIG: tall, powerful dog, deep chest, good spring of rib. Strong hindquarters. Small well placed ears. Harsh coat. Sound on the move. Res CC.

PB 2
1st Parsons & McKinnons CLAONAGLEN COLLUSCA . 7 months. Pleasing head and expression. Well constructed front and rear with good bend of stifle. Tight feet. Sound mover for age.
2nd Kilgar’s CLAONAGLEN CONA AT MAELSTROM: litter sister to (1) but darker, shapely. Ears on big side but well placed. Not too happy and a bit erratic on the move but plenty of time on her side.

JB 4
1st Robertsons’ CHUILINN BERENGARIA: dark, harsh coat, strong neck, correct topline. Good depth of brisket and tuck up. Sound on the move.
2nd Cunningham’s CHUILINN BALLAD: litter sister to (1) and similar comments apply but not such a good topline or stifle. Sound mover.

3rd Kilbar’s KILBOURNE PENELOPE AT MAELSTROM

LB 9 (2)
1st Doak’s ROSSLYN QORRIE: very dark, shapely bitch. Correct construction front and rear, strong neck, deep chest, good bend of stifle. Sound free movement won her a very strong class. Res CC
2nd Finnett & Heathcotes HYNDSIGHT RUNNIN DOWN A DREAM: similar in many ways to (1) and likely to change places on another day. Just not so free in movement today
3rd Constantine’s COTHERSTONE ISLAY MIST OF KALEGINY

OB 10 (1) – a very strong class. I would happily have given out several CCs!
1st Redmond & Friend’s CH SHAGIEAD LADY SEA WITH GREYBROWS: I judged her as a youngster and said she was very promising and she has fulfilled that promise. Very feminine with curves in all the right places.  Lovely head and expression. Immaculately presented and handled. Free flowing movement stood out even in this company.  CC, BOB and Group 1
2nd Morton & Morgan’s CH COTHERSTONE DUCHENNE: a bitch who I have given a RCC to in the past. Taller and heavier type that (1) but well balanced and constructed. Unfortunate to come up against (1). A worthy Champion.
3rd Doak’s ROSSLYN PLEDGE

VB 2 (1)
1st Robertson’s CHUILINN AFRA: 8 year old. Nice head and expression. Good overall construction. Tight feet. Strode out like a youngster.
